E-N-T Cowichan Crayfish
1) Slide the “Y” style eyes onto the hook. |
2) Add a base layer of thread at the bend end of the hook. |
3) Tie approx. 60 strands of squirrel tail onto the bend end of the hook. |
4) Add 2 pieces of rootbeer crystal flash to each side of the squirrel tail. |
5) Attach 2 pieces of orange/black rubber legs to the bend end of the hook. Leave approx. 6cm of rubber legs in front of the fly. |
6) Place a dab of cement for extra strength, over the rubber legs and where the eyes are to be located. |
7) Slide the eyes forward into position. **Note: Slide the eyes just far enough ahead to elevate the rubber legs. Secure with thread. |
8) Tie approx. 80 strands of squirrel tail onto the hook shank approx. 1/4 inch behind the rubber legs. |
9) Tie another 80 strands of squirrel tail onto the hook shank approx. 1/8 inch from the eye of the hook. |
10) Tie under the tail section of squirrel tail to lift the tail. |
11) Trim the tail to desired shape. |
12) Cement the tail section for strength. |
